Subject: Repeated Notes Client Crashes on Vista SP1
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes Client
Technical Area: Crash
Platform: Windows Vista client
Release: 8.5
Reproducible: Intermittent
My notes 8.5 install (HF58 2/9/09) running on Vista SP1 with 3GB memory and
all OS patches/fixes crashes many times a day. I installed HF58 2/9/09 a few days ago but there is no difference in behavior (both the pure 8.5 install from DEC and 8.5 + HF58 do the same thing). Its starting to get annoying.
Problem is random, I could be looking at email, opening attachment, looking
at calendar and the system (notes only) just stops responding. I wait but it
never recovers no crash message it just hangs, only way to recover is to
NSD -KILL and then restart notes.
I do not see any error messages or crash warnings although I have a ton of
crash files in the IBM Support folder in notes.
The only thing I can point to (this is speculation) is that it can not handle the quick switching from window email to email. I use the ESC key to close emails and it seems that I notice it more when I ESC and quickly select another email message. It seems to hesitate like there are too many mouse/keyboard inputs and then it just hangs.
Has anyone seen this or have any suggestions??
